Staying Busy When Feeling Cooped Up

I was going to write about all the things I was excited to-do post-quarantine, but I caught myself. I realized I should be focusing on the present and what I get to be doing now instead trying to dredge past this time to get to the other side!

In my best attempts to stay positive while realizing this may not be lifting any time soon, I decided to share how I'm keeping busy and even some ways I'm taking advantage of

this time being home.

Staying active through home workouts, dance classes, or yoga flows has been a

great outlet when I'm in need of moving and wiggling my body around. I know some people think all the homework out posts on Instagram Live are obnoxious, but if you're looking for ideas they can be really helpful. Youtube has been my guide when finding new yoga flows! My husband and I have even started going on walks on his days off, which has given us a great opportunity to further explore our community. We found local shops we didn't even know were that close to us! It's so easy to become a couch potato when you have the excuse of needing to stay inside as much as possible. However, don't let that be the case, find what your body needs and keep moving in some capacity.

Getting creative has also kept me busy and motivated throughout this time. I have been able to start some DIY projects around my apartment and the list just keeps growing. If you need ideas you can a recent DIY post like my kitchen backsplash or I have another DIY project coming out friday that will help spruce up your home for spring! I recently got a bullet journal that I have been turning into a creative planner, which has been great for letting me sketch and get organized. Joanna Gaines' new cookbook has got me trying new recipes and it has been so fun, even though some have been fails! I also have been painting and creating more home decor (post coming soon). If you are anything like me and just need to be creative find something that will help like, writing, drawing, painting, new recipes or a new DIY project.

Finishing everything you may have procrastinated is another great use of time at home! I know I have been able to reorganize and cleaning my apartment. Check out a recent post for tips in spring cleaning! I don't know about you been I am terrible at finishing books or TV shows. If I'm not consistent and too much time passes I forget and lose interest so now I've started catching up on my books that were collecting dust and getting back to old shows.

If you've hit your wall like I did this week I encourage you to read another post I have on spreading love right now. I mean it when I say I hit a wall, I needed to get some last minute groceries, but there was a line wrapped outside of target just to get in and my coffee order was messed up. The whole world was over and the day was ruined! That is so laughable, but in the moment that's how I felt, I was so frustrated and disappointed by the fact that things were different and not convenient enough. I felt so silly and embarrassed how I was thinking and acting, because in reality my husband and myself are healthy, safe, and have anything we need. Take this time find things you are grateful for, even though it may be hard. Focusing on other rather than ourselves will help keep our perspectives in check; I know that is the best thing for me to be doing with my time right now!

I hope you are staying safe and healthy during this time. When you start to feel stir crazy or overwhelmed I hope this can help give you some ideas to not only stay busy, but even be productive. It is okay for us as individuals to be still and rest, It may feel uncomfortable because it's not what we are use to, however it can be beneficial if we stay productive and positive. Let me know how you are spending your time in quarantine and if you are inspired by any of my ideas!
