Planning a wedding was so fun to me, but it definitely had its stressful moments. For one, we were juggling planning a wedding long distance as well as figuring out where we were going to live. Despite the crying and feelings of defeat that came with some nights it all worked out in the end! A lot of that was due to being able to repurpose decorations and other supplies.
My handmade wedding decor signs were budget friendly to make for the wedding (you can read about it in my previous post). These also doubled as personalized home decors signs, which I love having on our walls as little reminders of our special day!
Another item were able to repurpose is the vases we used along the aisles and in the centerpieces. I'm going to be honest, these were straight up Dollar Tree finds!! This was such an easy and affordable option for wedding decorations. We use them in our apartment as flower and greenery vases. We also repurposed the battery votive candles by using some as lanterns in mason jars or the vases (I like to change it up)!
The mason jars were also from our wedding and we were left with a lot more than we expected so I've repurposed some, you can read about those in another post. I'm still working on some other ways to utilize these jars, so that will be a another post I'll be sharing soon!
The centerpieces at the wedding were minimal eucalyptus wreaths, I made these myself and used faux greenery so I could repurpose them and make them last. These are now hanging on our wall in our bedroom. They give a needed freshness with the greenery and fill the blank space that would've been there.
Another way we decorated our wedding is by having a display of photos from the beginning of our relationship to current ones. I purchased gold antique frames from several different thrift shops (they usually cost $1-$2 a frame). We repurposed these in an obvious way, but it was helpful when moving into a new place to already have photos and frames ready to put up!
Instead of all wooden script signs I chose to have a few chalkboard signs because they would be reusable. I am able to write out recipes or weekly meals on these chalkboards and have them in the kitchen the dining room.
Since my family catered the wedding and all the food was homemade, all the utensils and supplies were bought by us as well! Some of those items that we were able to reuse was the pie stands, drink containers, as well and plates and utensils!
Being able to repurpose wedding supplies and decorations was great when it came to our budget for the wedding and for our new home! This also prevented a lot of waste that we could've made if we just threw everything away. I love finding new ways to use things and bring them back to life and this is how I did it with our wedding decorations! I hope you enjoyed this post and got ideas of how you can repurpose some things in your own life. Or maybe even get ideas if you or a loved one are planning a wedding!
