It's been a while since my last blog post, but we are finally settled in our new place and I am getting back into my rhythms. If you know me at all or have read any of my blog posts, you know that means I've gotten my creative juices flowing and started some DIY projects/ crafts. I've always been in the practice of keeping flowers I've been given, mainly the ones from my hubby! In the past, I have dried my flowers by hanging them upside down or pressing them in books. Then I've stored them in jars, shadow boxes, or even lamented the pressed ones and use them as bookmarks. These are all great ways to use and decorate with dried flowers and keep little mementos that have been given to you.
The dried flower DIY I just did is my favorite by far! I basically transformed my dying flowers into a cute, whimsical wall hanging piece.
My Supplies:
An embroidery hoop (I used two, a 10" and 8" embroidery hoop)
Twine
Dried flowers
Command hooks
Hot glue for more stability (however, I just tied my twine around the hoop and it all stayed in place)
Steps:
Tye twine to one side of the inside embroidery hoop and wrap until you get your desired width of twine.
Tighten the outer embroidery hoop to hold the twine in place (you can also use hot glue to keep the twine in place, for extra stability)
Cut your dried flowers to your desired length
Weave dried flowers in and out of the twine
Hang up on your wall!
I ended up hanging these cute, whimsical flower hoops in our guest bathroom, soon to be baby's bathroom. I was so happy with the way these turned out! These add texture and pops of color to the space. It also is a great way to look back on memories, for instance, these flowers were a part of the bouquet my husband gave me for our 2 year anniversary!
I hope this DIY inspired you in some way and I'd love to see if you create something like this! As this post launches me back into blogging more consistently, I hope you continue reading and are ready for many more home decor and DIY posts. Thank you for reading! Comment how you have preserved flowers that have been gifted to you in the past, or if you are planning on trying this DIY.
