DIY Minimalist Spring Wreaths

Updated: Apr 13, 2020

I love minimal style decor and especially with spring being here I'm excited to add some knew spring decor to brighten the place up. I originally made these wreaths as centerpieces for my wedding, but I have been able to repurpose them as home decor! These are super easy to make and give a simple and fresh look to your walls.

The supplies you'll need are:

  • Gold wreath rings (I purchased mine from Amazon, they come in different sizes, but mine are 12in)

  • Scissors

  • Your choice of greenery; Eucalyptus sprigs (I also got these from Amazon, I used a garland, but I would recommend sprigs, they are easier to mold and you can have them spread away from each other or the same direction)

  • Green floral wire

  • Green floral tape

  • Hot glue/ Hot glue gun

  • Spring flowers of your choice; Babys breathe (These are also on Amazon, I like how dainty these look and they keep with the minimalist theme)

What's great about making your own spring wreaths is that you can cater them to your specific style. If you love pink, add some big pink flowers! You can use any type of greenery to fit best in your home! I used faux greenery and faux flowers for my wreaths, however the options of real floral arrangements are definitely possible. You could dry the flowers out, but faux flowers are a little simpler and last longer.

Step 1: Measure greenery against gold rings to map out where to cut and trim if needed. Then make the cuts and layer how you like.

Step 2: Hot glue ends of greenery, wait till the glue drys then move up the stem. (repeat for all greenery)

Alternative step: If you don't have hot glue, the green floral wire is another option. However, I found it easier to use the hot glue.

Step 3: Add in flowers amongst greenery and apply hot glue.

Step 4: Wrap the green floral tape over the hot glue spots or floral wire to cover any stems sticking to give the wreath clean lines

And Viola! You should now have your own minimal spring wreath home decor. Now how do you decorate with them? I will show you a few options of what I have done with my creations.

You can simply hang one on the wall. I chose to put my spring decor above a cubby in my living room next to a lantern and basket. The soft greenery really lightens up and brings a natural element to the space.

If you decide to make multiple wreaths you can use them to fill up more wall space. I used the 10 that I had made and arranged them over my bed in my apartment! I love this look, it fills the void of the blank white walls and I have a cozy emerald blanket that matches!

You can use them as a centerpiece for the dinner table or any type of event. This was the original purpose of these wreaths, at my wedding. I added some candles to the center of the wreath to give a romantic feel. I love the way the greenery looks against the dark wood!

Those are just a few ways you can use these minimal style spring wreaths. I love creating my own home decor and these are budget friendly too! Some of these go for like $40 on Etsy. I hope you found this helpful and motivating to create some of your own home decor. If you do decide to DIY your own I'd love to see your finished projects!
