It can be so exciting living in your own space. The best part is being able to design and decorate to reflect yourself and your style, at least that's what I find most exiting. When living in an apartment or even a dorm it can be a little tricky to decorate, while also follow the rules of not putting holes in the wall, no painting, etc. The apartment we are currently in is mostly has soft grey and white walls, which gives a great neutral canvas to decorate on. The kitchen especially can seem small and a little boring. There is no backsplash and it's all the same color. This is why I was so excited when I found these temporary adhesive tile decals to serve as a DIY backsplash!
These are originally from Target's Bullseye Spotlight Section (the dollar section). I had never seen these in the store before, but if I had I would have snatched them up because they were only $3 a piece! I bought mine online through a resale app. Each pack comes with 16 tile decals and I got 3 packs, which allowed me to have some left over!
The great part of these decals are that they are easy to apply and easy to remove, with no damage to your walls. I was worried that they might not stick because the texture of the walls are pretty rough and I've had a hard time getting adhesive hooks to stay put. These went on and stayed on!! It's important to clean the walls first and let them dry. Then I pretty much eye balled the placement of the decals and they all came out looking straight and aligned with one another. To set them I used a damp rag and wiped over the decal until all the air bubbles were all gone. There was an outlet I ran into but I just place the decal over it and used an exacto knife to cut out the shape of the outlet.
I'm not sure if these are in stock at any Targets anymore, but if you see them I recommend getting them! These would look great in a kitchen as a backsplash or a bathroom on the wall or floor. It's an inexpensive way to decorate and a great way to add some pattern and texture to a boring wall without doing anything permanent! This is the before and after look of our little kitchen nook.
I told you it was a small kitchen, but I loved the way it turned out! These faux tiles provide a needed contrast to this all white kitchen. It gives me something fun and new for a while to spice up the kitchen. Let me know if you decide to decorate your kitchen and how you decide to do it! Was this helpful if you live somewhere you have to be careful decorating, I'd love to hear your feedback and if you find these decals in a store!
