DIY Headboard

You would not guess where I got the idea of how to make my own DIY headboard!!

...

Well I'm waiting, aren't you going to guess?? No, not pinterest... TIKTOK!

Yup, I saw this on Tiktok so I obviously had to try it out! I will say I did change it up a bit from what I saw some else do to better fit what I had in mind. The inspiration Tiktok I watched used placemats and I used table runners instead.

Supplies I used:

cardboard backing/ foam poster boards

exacto knife

e6000 glue

This project was so simple and didn't require a lot of supplies. I love this idea because I didn't have a headboard and once I put up my DIY version I realized how much the room needed the dimension and the texture it gave.

Steps:

1. Lay out table runners or placemats in order you desire

2. Layer the cardboard or foam poster over the designed headboard and trace out for the backing to not be seen behind the headboard

3. Cut backing away from placemats or runners with exacto knife

4. Glue placemats or runners to backing with e6000 glue and wait to dry (this will feel like it takes forever, but YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT!)

5. Attach your new DIY headboard behind your bed on the wall (command strips would be ideal, but those don't work on our walls, so we ended up using tiny nails)

I used a jute table runner, which helped provide texture and contrast to our bedroom from a lot of the soft and cloth-like materials throughout the space. What is nice about making your own headboard is that you can completely personalize it to fit your style and your aesthetic. You are also able to change it up more frequently if you want to change your decorations because you haven't poured a lot of money into a purchased headboard.

I hope you enjoyed this post and tutorial on how to make your own DIY headboard! I love sharing projects to help people be creative, save money, and make their homes beautiful.

Let me know if you have a headboard or if you will now be hand crafting your own. I would love to see your results and hear what you think of my post!

P.S. I hate that the pictures on my wall aren't framed so don't worry I'm working on it, 20X30 frames are expensive!!
