Ever since we made our ammo can coffee table, I have been wanting to get coasters to avoid staining the table top (which has already happened!!). Then I thought maybe I could make some and then share it with you all! I've made coasters before actually; as a gift I made Scrabble themed coasters for my grandma. They were so cute and she loved them!
I decided for my coasters I was going to use some old rope I had laying around in my craft supplies. I'm pretty sure I got this rope from Michaels 3 or 4 years ago for another project so it just collecting dust by this point.
Materials
These are so simple and probably the easiest things to make! The only supplies I used was the rope and a hot glue gun.
Instructions
Step 1: Hot glue the end of the rope and turn it in on itself to start creating your circle.
Step 2: Repeat until you've reach your desired size.
See! I told you it was so easy and simple. I do recommend pressing down on the entire circle while adding on with more rope. This will help prevent it from bubbling up on one side. I measured my size of coaster to the size of the dowel holding the rope, which was just a convenient addition.
I'm pretty satisfied with how these came out with how little money or effort I had to put into them! I was able to make 4 coasters that were 4" in diameter, with LEFT OVER rope.
I like these coasters because they look like they could fit in various styles of homes, such as a rustic style, a bohemian style, a coastal style, or even a farmhouse style! As I was making these I thought of how I could do this same process and make placemats, shallow bowls, or even baskets.
I hope you enjoyed my quick DIY for this week and that it inspired you to be creative in your own way! Let me know if you make your own coasters or anything out of rope. I am debating on if I should paint these coasters, (maybe abstract patterns, or solid colors) comment and let me know if I should paint them or keep them the same!
